Bio
Dwight & Nicole (Dwight Ritcher and Nicole Nelson) are a breath of gritty, soulful and rollicking fresh air. Having already performed all over the world with such a variety of legendary artists as Dr. John, Carly Simon, Buddy Guy, and Dr. Maya Angelou, they have the ability to bring a very big presence to any stage, big or small. Both were born with mountains of musical talent including golden pipes that have been honed to fill rock clubs like NYC's Mercury Lounge as well as pin-drop theatres like Boston's Symphony Hall. Dwight & Nicole are a raw and beautiful sight to be seen, as well as a sound to be heard. Ritcher, a multi-instrumentalist, tastefully plays a Gibson Flying V guitar at most shows, running bass lines and finger-picking. When the mood strikes he plays crushing solos, reminiscent of Albert King in their grit and strength. Often, if the music calls for it, he sits at a piano or even behind a drum kit, adding to the texture of their set. Occasionally, Nelson, who builds rhythm by stomping, clapping and playing tambourine, will strap on the guitar, or sit at a piano; further revealing their versatility. With a string of sold out shows, and multiple local awards and nominations under their belt, it is just a matter of time before the rest of the nation catches on to what we in the Northeast have been saying all along. Blending deep rooted blues, soul, folk, and rock, Dwight & Nicole conjure old souls with their brand new classic sound. For more information and to listen to the new album, visit www.dwightandnicole.com

Dwight & Nicole Release Independent Album !Signs

"Dwight Ritcher and gorgeous dusky-voiced Nicole Nelson lay down sultry, soulful music" - Boston Globe "Magnificent!"- Dr. Maya Angelou "A voice for the ages" - Boston Phoenix .

The album !Signs was recorded and mixed at Boston's Rear Window Studio, which is known for it's
classic instruments, 20ft ceilings, and rare gear. Following a performance in the winter of 2008, studio owner & producer Milt Reder, fell in love with Dwight & Nicole's sound and set out to record with them right away. "Dwight and Nicole's music has a real timeless quality which is what I look for" said Reder, who invited Dwight & Nicole to live with his family in his hundred year old Victorian home in Brookline, MA while working on the album. Throughout the year, friends, family, musicians and fans came together offering assistance with everything from recording time to design, photo shoots to video and sound. "We both learned so much in 2009" said Dwight. "Maybe the most important lesson is that being an independent artist does not have to be synonymous with struggling, and it certainly does not mean that you're going at it alone"
"Our fans are very devoted. We give ourselves over to them onstage each night, and vice-versa" said Nicole. "It's reciprocal; we all feel that same great high after a show." Dwight & Nicole have both performed in the Boston area for nearly a decade, building a diverse following and regularly selling out concerts ranging from jazz venues like the Regattabar to rock clubs like the Middle East. Their fans are a broad multicultural group of all ages. "We are fortunate that our music hits a chord with so many different people- and that we've been able to make a beautiful album that would not exist if we had to follow a formula for selling music to the masses" said Dwight.
